About

Flutist and soprano Katherine Marx is a versatile musician with a broad base of creative interests. She has passion for collaborative playing, whether in a small chamber group or large orchestra, as well as solo performance and instruction.

Katherine seeks out opportunities to connect with those in her local community through music. She teaches private lessons, frequents nursing homes with her solo recitals, and is currently developing a toddler music class for a local preschool. On Sunday evenings, she sings in the Eastman School of Music’s Schola Cantorum at Christ Church. Together with various duo partners, she brings flute/harp, flute/piano, flute/guitar, and voice/piano recitals to Rochester, NY, Boise, ID, and Fort Wayne, IN.

Katherine has appeared as a soloist with orchestra on two occasions and has held principal positions in an array of ensembles during her pre- and post-grad education. She has regularly performed with the Fort Wayne Philharmonic and Syracuse Symphony Orchestra and joined for a summer season with Artosphere Festival Orchestra in Fayetteville, Arkansas in 2024.

As a spirited and captivating actress, Katherine has held soprano roles of Miss Silverpeal from The Impresario, Clara from Signor Deluso, Aunt Sue from Slow Dusk, all from her time at Purdue Fort Wayne University.

Katherine holds a Bachelor of Arts in Flute and Vocal Performance (MM ‘24) from Purdue University Fort Wayne, where she studied with Luke Fitzpatrick (flute) and Ashlee Bickley McCrory (voice). In December 2025, she completed an Artist’s Diploma in Performance from the Eastman School of Music in the studios of Bonita Boyd (flute), Anne Harrow (piccolo), and Kathryn Cowdrick (voice).
